2014 Winners of the best scholarly article on topics of interest for the Interuniversity Centre for Peace Studies (CISP)

In September 2013 the Interuniversity Center for Peace Studies (CISP) published details of an award for the best scholarly articles on topics of interest to the Center.
By 31 January 2014, the deadline for submission, the Center had received nine articles.
The assessment board was composed of the CISP Scientific Committee, and was assisted by a number of external experts. In evaluating the entries, the Scientific Committee favored the articles that presented the most original research in terms of content, hypotheses and empirical or historical analysis, while showing methodological rigor and a solid academic grounding.
In adherence to this policy, the winners of the CISP award are as follows:
1. Constantin Brissaud, Les publics de la force publique: culture policière et représentations de l'altérité dans les Patrouilles
2. Stefano Quirico, La pace permanente attraverso la forma repubblicana
The award ceremony took place on Friday, November 21st 2014, at the CISP Conference entitled 'The New Justifications for Torture in the Age of Human Rights'.

2012 Winners of the best scholarly article on topics of interest for the Interuniversity Centre for Peace Studies (CISP)

In December 2011, the Interuniversity Centre for Peace Studies (CISP) announced an award for the best scholarly article on topics of interest for the Centre.
On the 31 January 2012 - deadline for submission - The Centre had received 13 articles.
The assessing board was composed by the Scientific Committee of CISP, with the assistance of external experts. The articles showed a very advanced level of scientific and cultural elaboration, and covered a wide range of topics and methods. In its evaluation, the Scientific Committee has privileged those works that presented the most original and innovative solutions in terms of contents, hypotheses and empirical (or historical) analysis, while showing methodological rigor and solid academic background.
According to this policy, the winners of the CISP award are the following:
  • 1) Mathieu Couttenier, Raphael Soubeyran, 'Beyond Shocks: Rethinking Drought and Civil War in Sub-Saharan Africa'.
  • 2) Sebastian Schutte, 'Geography, Outcome, and Casualties: A Unified Model of Insurgency'.
    jointly with
    2) Elisa Orrù, 'Onuma's transcivilisational perspective and the universalism of the international criminal court'
The award ceremony took place on Friday 5th October 2012, at the annual meeting of CISP.
